Love to make my own body lotions!

I loved this book. I was looking for a book containing many recipes for DIY lotion so I know what ingredients are in the creams I used. I have an extremely dry skin. I was happy to see that there are seven "recipes" for ultra dry skin. There are also soothing body lotions, besic body lotions, enticing fragrant body lotions and more. I really like the way the author explained the different types of body lotions you can make and which one is right for you. There is also a very informative chapter on how to prepare the body lotion recipes including what equipment you need, the ingredients, the directions, tips on storing, shelf life and how to apply your lotions. Overall, the book is well presented and the recipes are easy to make. I made the sweet dreams body butter and it felt fabulous on my skin. My daughter loved it too!. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to make their body lotions, saving money and using all-natural ingredients.

Great for people with sensitive skin

For people like me with sensitive skin, using chemical-rich body lotions involves an increased risk of allergies. Even my dermatologist asked to stay away from commercially available skincare products. It was when my friend recommended this book did I finally feel relieved. The ingredients are all natural, which would suit me perfectly. However, without preservatives, the lotions have limited shelf life, at a maximum of three months. Apart from that, every other factor is in my favor. Looks like I owe the author a five star…thanks!

Wonderful homemade lotions

After reading this book, I would think twice before buying skincare products. The lotions commercially available are chemical-based, which puts the skin at risk of various allergies and infections. Taking some time out of our schedule, we can prepare the lotions as described. The ingredients being easily available and the preparation methods lucidly discussed, the homemade body lotions will be the perfect choice for 24 x 7 nourishment for my skin. Great work by Veronica Cooper, five star on the way!

Couldn't believe the story could be any better then the first book! Absolutely loved Celi! Can see how everyone else did too. Alex sure did take his hurt to a higher level, but don' t really blame him. I love happy endings! Kudos to Ms Shay for an excellent story that is literally "out of this world"!!!

When getting there was more than half the fun!

Having been an antique dealer, I sold a number of those handsome old steamer trunks. The ones that still had a few hotel labels affixed always commanded a premium. Seeing those old labels couldn't help but conjure up thoughts of the golden age of the passenger liner and all that mode of transit entailed. Unfortunately, those were not my own personal recollections as I am a couple of generations removed from such experiences. Barring the last chapter, of course, the whole Titanic story drew further attention to that memorable and romantic method of travel. Those colorful little labels evoked all that fascination and more.

I can't imagine anyone better suited to have put this collection together that Mr. Vuitton. Being at the height of his career during the heyday of this "Golden Era" and in an industry catering to the wealthiest of travelers it was a natural fit. It appears he solicited help from many of his friends, and I would guess hotel staff, in the expansion of his hobby. Thankfully, Francisca Matteoli has selected a number of these gems and made them available to us in this recently published book.

My first reaction when seeing this volume on Amazon's recommended list was that, given its dimensions, it seemed a bit pricey. Now that I've had a chance to examine it, "up-close and personal", I can see that the price is certainly justified. This book is very well produced. The binding is quite handsome and the paper selected is perfect for the subject matter. I am rather glad they didn't choose to publish this book in a coffee-table format. The smaller size still easily fits several labels per page and it rests much more comfortably in one's lap. (note: sandwiched in between several of the pages are beautifully reproduced vintage postcards further enhancing this books appeal)

There are hundreds of these miniature works of art on display in this 500+ page study - enough to satisfy even the most advanced enthusiast. If you have in interest in graphic arts, travel or just a fondness for early 1900s nostalgia this work is guaranteed to please. A noteworthy contribution to a field long in need of such attention

This book is really sumptuous! It's filled with a huge & beautiful selection of vintage hotel labels and it even has some (copies of) old postcards. If you love ephemera, you can't help but love this book.

About the Author
Malcolm Quantrill is currently the Distinguished Professor of Architecture at Texas A&M University. His previous positions include Director of the Architectural Association, London, Dean of the Department of Environmental Design in the the Polytechnic of North London, and Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at the University of Jordan in Amman. Among his many publications is a book on another of Finland's leading architects, Reima Pietila.

The only one out there...

The fact that "Alvar Aalto: A Critical Study" is one of very few texts written in English about the under-represented architect gives this book a higher rating. I don't believe that the author is a native English speaker, as I found the text to be quite rough, especially compared to the poetics of Spiro Kostof. The publisher had good reason to take this book out of print. Then again, architects can not write, so...

DEBORAH PIERCE, AIA, is founding partner, project architect, and firm manager of Pierce Lamb Architects in Newton, Massachusetts. Architectural accessibility has been a special focus of Deborah's work since the firm's inception. As national chair of the AIA Advisory Group for Small Project Practitioners, she has raised awareness for Universal Design in private residences through the AIA's Small Project Design Awards program and a 2010 National Convention seminar. She is also a frequent lecturer on the hot topic of accessibility.

I love this book

I received my advance order copy of this book earlier this week and couldn't be happier. Ms. Pierce's writing is sensible yet sensitive. The mix of floorplans and photos and sidebars is engaging, informational and entertaining. And the examples that were curated for the book are a great mix of the challenges that people with disabilities or other physical challenges face on a daily basis. This book is informative, entertaining and inspiring. I recommend this book to anyone experiencing, helping loved ones with or designing for those with disabilities. Buy this book and enjoy!

Concrete ideas to expand on

This book is a great resource for architects and homeowners alike who are looking for design ideas for accessible single family homes. Each home illustrated reflects unique solutions to common problems shared by people with disabilities, their families and those who wish to "future-proof" their home. Ms. Pierce has gathered attractive examples and written careful guidance for architects to develop a good list of questions to ask their clients - or for homeowners to ask themselves as they plan for alterations or new construction.

Better Late Than Never...

This book is fantastic. I wish I'd have had it a few years back when I did a remodel on my house. Since then I've had some medical issues and don't have wheelchair access to the entire back half of my house. This book has alot of outstanding ideas and photo examples. I read it cover-to-cover and plan to do that again in an attempt to regain access.
