About the Author
Jolinda Hackett (Santa Barbara, CA) has been vegetarian for nearly twenty years, and a plant-based vegan for nearly ten. As a volunteer for countless vegan advocacy groups, Hackett spent several years promoting the myriad benefits of a plant-based diet. She continues to counsel new vegetarians and vegans online as the About.com Guide to Vegetarian Food. While at the University of Chicago, she studied with Dr. Gideon Eshel, who made headlines in 2006 with research showing that a vegan diet does more to reduce one's individual planetary footprint than switching from an SUV to a hybrid vehicle. She has been interviewed by and appeared in American Vegan magazine, Food and Home Magazine, the Daily Nexus, the Santa Barbara News Press, the Jerusalem Post, and on WZRD radio in Chicago.

Everyone should get this book, fantastic

I wasn't Vegan before reading this book as I was always under the impression that there wouldn't be enough choice or variety in my diet. This book offers so many fantastic recipes, I found them simple, quick and easy to make and really delicious. Some favorites: Classic Fettuccine Alfredo, Pesto and potato salad and the coconut rice pudding. I also like the nutritional info and total calories displayed with each recipe. 2 months in and I'm still Vegan, the transition was easy thanks to this book, overall, a great investment into my health.

Very solid entry into the Vegan world.

This book is a must for vegans that don't consider themselves great cooks or of for people that are exploring vegan meals.
Pros:
Recipes are fairly quick and easy to follow.
Wide verity of meals from mid east to american, most recipes done well
It's creative. A lot of the recipes are just fun to cook.
Has the nutritional facts for each recipe
thought out and organized. Easy to follow
Great breakfast section
Most ingredients are easy to find in the store
Cons:
-There are a few recipes that don't feel like they were fully tested. Mostly dry spice issues where it feels like there is just too much dry spice. And I am not a spice wimp, just that when you can feel the graininess of the dry spice, there is probably too much
-Nutritional yeast. This isn't really to big of a con but ALOT of the recipes use Nutritional yeast as a base. Again, I don't mind this but its worth pointing out.
-Every once and awhile there is a recipe that has a list of ingredients but doesn't tell you where to put those ingredients in during the how to make section. Doesn't happen a lot but have seen that a few times.

Chinese hot soup.
BBQ tofu caramelized onion piza(really only because I have a killer BBQ recipe that I never thought to put on pizza)
Agave Tofu.

I bought this book on the advice of youtube (super skinny) star Jenna Marbles. I became a vegan, and I feel great ! This book has introduced me to a lot of new food products, and amazing recipes ! Most of them I find fairly easy ! I recommend this book for any new vegan (there's a lot of info on veganism at the beginning) or even anyone who wants to eat healthy and discover interesting foods.
