Fantastic Old Book

I bought this old book used through Amazon.com and I got a great deal.

This is a wonderful book for anyone interested in how the muscles and bones work together to make the body move.

It is much better than Gray's Anatomy and better still than a workout book focused on athletic ability and targeted muscle exercises.

I like the general overview to each area with many sketches in a sequence of tightening field illustrations so that one sees the bigger picture and gets zeroed in as the discussion proceeds to the core of the matter.

My interest is in robotics, humanoid robotics, and I find that the perspective taken here, giving the real lowdown as it were, is essential to understanding how things work so that one can get on with figuring out how to do it differently with other materials.

If you watch Thor, when Erik Selvig's character is at the library, the book he picks up is "myths and legends from around the world by anneka sunden" Although this title does not have the dust cover as seen in the movie showing Anneka Sunden's name at the top, it might be a reprint of it. So, if you're trying to find what the prop was, you might try ABE for the original, but if not, this one might just be 'it'.

I am a 15 year old and, I, as an avid reader, often find my self caught up in using sophisticated and intense works for research on projects, etc. However, one book that I have had for many years has helped me greatly through the years among other things. Myths and Legends from around the World is a beautiful book. The myths are interesting and (finally) understandable. Also, the illustrations are outstandingly beautiful and detailed. If you are contemplating buying a book of myths, for kids or adults, this is the one.

GOOD? BAD? OK!

This picture book by Sandy Shepherd is an ok read for people that enjoy different myths and legends told from hundred of years ago. It also has some pretty nice illustration by Tudor Humphries.

The book is about different myths and legends from around the world. They have stories about how animals and plant became how they are, and how Earth is made of soil and above it is sky. I thought some of the stories were interesting, but others were a bit confusing, like some of the stories about God and spirits or founders and inventors.

The context of the book is understandable and good for younger readers to understand, but it has some information that didn't quite make sense. I don't think I liked this book all that much, just because I'm not really a big fan of legends or myths on how our world was made, but indeed they have extremely detailed drawings which spike things up a bit. I recommend this book to whoever has the taste for different legends and myths, children or adults.

a great carb counter for beginners

This is the second copy of this guide I've purchased, after the first one went home with one of my patients. I like the array of fast food restaurants listed in the back and the variety of items from highly processed items to boiled peanuts. I have found many ethnic items listed as well, which is very helpful for folks who weren't born in the States. It does focus on carbohydrates, fiber and sugar, and is not complete nutritional information - but if what you are looking for is carb counting - I loved it.

A Concise Business Strategy and Economics book

This is an excellent book about Business Strategy and Economics in the airline environment. It explains, in detail, the traditional points and current trends happening in a fast-paced and ever-changing industry.
I must reject the poor review given by another reader. I have a significant level of training and experience in the airline industry. Mr. O'Connor possesses exceptional credentials and this particular book is considered part of a group of classic educational material for the serious student and aspiring aviation manager to read.
There are many books written about aviation and airlines. This one connects the economic terms, definitions and business strategies together, as it relates to the airline industry.
One final point. This book goes out of circulation and it is difficult to get. Get it while you can!

I was a bit hasty

I decided to give this a second look, after writing a rather lukewarm review of it earlier. I must admit that it is not as bad as I earlier may have implied. If given a very careful and dedicated read, there is sufficient detail to gain some insights into the airline industry. Much of it is redundant with general business concepts, so I still don't think it's worth the money for someone with extensive experience or an MBA to bother with. However, for an undergrad or those without more formal training, it could be valuable.

Falls short of its goal

I bought this book (regrettably now) and read it, hoping to gain an introduction to the industry that I will be joining as a soon to be MBA graduate. Unfortunately, this does not stand up to its billing as a college level text. It would be ok for an undergraduate, survey or overview type course. But for those seeking a serious look at the airline industry, I cannot recommend this book.

Great but it could be improved

The frequency guide on the SAT sections is very helpful and it helps you figure out which sections are the most important.

The "Blue Book Database" was useful for finding similar questions on sections that I had trouble with.

However, the font was hard to read and several of the sections could have been condensed. In addition, several of the formula should have had a different font or an increase in font size. The content is excellent, but the presentation was lacking.

I would recommend it to any serious SAT student, but I found the PWN the SAT: Math Guide by Mike McClenathan to be an easier read in terms of visuals.

I love this book. It totally fills in the blanks in my SAT study course. This book explains each section of the math section like having a tutor. It is used in conjunction with the College Boards Official SAT 2nd addition blue book. Using the two of them together gives you a lot of practice. I also use College Boards SAT Online Course. I feel the three of them offer great preparation for the SAT. I highly recommend using this book to easily gain a better understanding of the math section of the SAT and improve your math section score. This company also offers the reading and writing SAT bible books. I highly recommend them all. I am not a tutor and I am a regular consumer. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about the PowerScore books.

Superb Guide for SAT Math

I struggled constantly with the Math section of the SAT. Granted, I never put forth very much effort in the ways of actual preparation for the Math section (I felt that being a 720+ scorer in the verbal and writing sections was sufficient to negate whatever drawbacks a low math score might engender). Having taken the SAT a few times, I scored 490 in the math section consistently. For the sake of brevity, I'll just say that approximately 40 days of intensive study with this guide (with the occasional help of a college mathematics professor) helped my score jump to 560. That's right, in little over a month I saw this tremendous of an improvement. I can only imagine how beneficial this guide could be to someone who already has a fair degree of intrinsic strength in this area and devotes study to this guide for a greater duration of time. Just---superb. There are no words for this. HANDS DOWN does not get any better than this.
